The Hero

BESATT, in collaboration with BIO RIO, presents an exclusive screening of the 1990 film The Hero, followed by an on-stage conversation with the film’s director Agneta Fagerström Olsson and lead actor Lena Carlsson. Seventeen-year-old Rita grows up in an upper-class Swedish community in Skåne in 1965 and shares a close bond with her father, Gerhard. Rita plays tennis, spends time with her friend Margit, turns down the boys from the tennis club, and prefers riding along with Jimmi in his laundry van. We follow her over the course of one transformative summer as her world expands, is challenged, and her relationship with her father is put to the test.
