Bio Rio has sat on the same corner of Hornstull since 1943.
We're one of Stockholm's independent cinemas, with a single auditorium and one big screen. We set the programme ourselves, film by film - new international titles alongside classics worth another night on the big screen.
The room has barely changed since the forties. Curved wood panelling, indirect light and rows of red velvet. Plenty of people come as much for the room as for the film.
Just inside the entrance is RiRi, our restaurant and bar, cooking over open fire with a Southern European leaning, worth knowing if you want to eat before the film or stay on afterwards.
If you come often, the Rio 4-Ever membership pays off: free tickets every month, free popcorn and a discount at the bar. Alongside the regular programme we run breakfast cinema at weekends, baby cinema for new parents and member screenings, sometimes with a secret film.
